Watershed Wanderer: The 64-Mile Challenge

Get Ready for an Exciting Adventure!

Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful is organizing a 64-Mile Coyote Creek Challenge to inspire you to explore the watershed and get involved with your community this year.


Why 64 Miles?

Coyote Creek is 64 miles long from Henry Coe State Park above Morgan Hill through San Jose to San Francisco Bay at Milpitas. It is the largest watershed in Santa Clara County and contains three zones:


  1. Upper Watershed: Coyote Valley, Coyote Creek Visitor Center, or Henry Coe

  2. Middle Watershed: Hellyer County Park, Kelley Park, Creek Cleanup Sites

  3. Lower Watershed / Bay: Restoration sites at Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge, BioBlitz at Alum Rock

How to Participate

Earn at least 64 virtual miles by participating in different events in the Coyote Creek watershed in each of the three zones by the end of Summer. Be sure to log your milestones in our tracker (Coming soon).

The Rules

  1. Log at least 64 virtual miles

  2. Attend at least one activity in each of the three Coyote Creek watershed zones

  3. Participate in a different type of activity in each of the three zones

  4. Complete by September 30, 2026


Activities for Participation

Each activity type counts as a certain number of miles towards your participation.


  • Henry Coe Park Activity: 24 miles

  • Creek Cleanup: 16 miles

  • Restoration: 16 miles

  • Bike Ride: 8 miles

  • BioBlitz: 8 miles

  • Tabling: 4 miles



Complete the following steps to earn your prize

  1. At a KCCB activity, take a photo of the sign indicating the activity name and date.

  2. At Henry Coe State Park, take a photo with the trailhead sign and the activity date.

  3. Log your name, activity, miles and photo to our tracker (coming soon).


As long as you log a total of 64 virtual miles by September 30th, you will receive an exclusive prize to celebrate your impact and achievement!
