As part of our seasonal spotlight series, we’re celebrating our incredible employees, partners, and volunteers who help make the work of Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful (KCCB) possible. In our Earth Day Blog, we talk about the ‘Ripple Effect’ and how all it takes is one person to inspire many to make a change in their community. Today we’re excited to introduce Rebekah, our Business Manager, who loves to get organized and is excited about the future for KCCB in our partnerships, community, and programs.

When Rebekah was asked about what they like to do for fun, Rebekah said, “I like to organize; I find joy in organizing and puzzles. Puzzles are fun.”
How it All Started 🌱
Rebekah started as the Business Manager in March of 2023, but had been involved as an Event Coordinator for KCCB since 2020. Originally, Rebekah worked in catering, but wanted something that felt like she was making a difference.
Rebekah said, “I just wanted to do something that felt like I was doing more at the same time.”
Impact on the Community 🌎
Rebekah was amazed by the amount of garbage and junk that would be pulled out of the creek, but Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful always makes the effort to go out and clean it up. The biggest impact that Rebekah noticed is the amount of trash that is continuously pulled out and the volunteers that make their community strong.
Rebekah said, “Brook, [a volunteer], every time she came to events she just brightened the whole thing up because she was just so excited to be there, and it’s like not many people are excited to go pick up trash the way that she was. She’d be so dirty, and she’d have a big smile on her face holding something she found.”
Looking Ahead: The Future of KCCB ☀️🌳
The most important things that Rebekah mentioned that excited her about the future of KCCB are the possibility for expansion of their programs, connecting with new communities and partnerships of programs and people, and getting more youth excited to get involved. Working with KCCB, together, Rebekah can’t wait to see what the future holds and how we all can get more people protecting the environment.
Rebekah said, “Volunteering with KCCB is a simple way to give back, meet great people, and enjoy the outdoors. Every event makes a real impact, and we make it easy to jump in and get involved.”
Final Thoughts ✨
If someone is interested in volunteering, the things that bring people out are, as Rebekah said, “the community, the stewardship, and the impact.”
Rebekah shared, “Humanity isn’t all bad; we’re not. We’re good. There are people out there; we just gotta find them.”
