Coyote Valley Fall BioBlitz a Hit

By Deb Kramer

On a cool windy Sunday morning, over 50 hardy folks came out to explore the wildlife surround Coyote Creek at the Coyote Creek Visitor Center at Anderson Lake in Morgan Hill. We saw birds, bugs, and buckeyes and more.

Merav Vonshak, who chose this area specifically for the galls, showed people quite a variety, including Sea Star, Hatching Gall Wasp, valley oak galls.

Also, most people were out to a BioBlitz for the first time!  And, many Explorers said our “Experts were much appreciated”, and people indicated they “really enjoyed being out in nature”.

See the event’s iNaturalist News section for results and highlights of the surveys. More events to come, so check our website for more opportunities. We plan to visit Alum Rock Park, Coyote Meadows (a proposed park), and Almaden Quicksilver Park in the future and revisit this one in the spring.
